# What is Soroban?

<figure><img src="/files/qeXxveno0CA9yNb7Nfyj" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Soroban is the smart contracts platform on the Stellar network. Contracts are small programs written in the Rust programming language and compiled as WebAssembly (Wasm) for deployment.

Soroban allows the creation of many products and dApps to expand Stellar's use cases. Aquarius is using Soroban to create our very own AMMs and introduce other various products to the Aquarius ecosystem.\
